(9/22) Two former managers at the Pizza Hut in Thurmont were arrested
recently on sex offense charges involving four teenage employees.
According to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Robert E. Wymer II, 26,
of Thurmont was charged on Friday with three counts of second-degree assault
and two counts of fourth-degree sex offense.
On Monday, Adam M. Kiefer, 24, of Emmitsburg, was charged with four counts
of second-degree assault and four counts of fourth degree sex offense, the
sheriff’s office stated.
Both men were arrested on Frederick County District Court warrants. As of
The Gazette’s press time Wednesday, Wymer had posted bond, but Keifer remained
at the Frederick County adult detention center.
According to the sheriff’s office, the charges stem from an investigation
initiated by the sheriff’s office in May after four young women, all juveniles
at the time of the incidents, complained that the pair harassed and assaulted
them at work.
An investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly engaged the young
women in inappropriate sexual conversations and unwanted touching on an ongoing
basis during shifts at the restaurant, according to a press release from the
sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office has identified the young women only as a 16- and
17-year–old from Thurmont, a 17-year-old from Sabillasville and a 17-year-old
from Frederick.
A manager at the Pizza Hut declined to comment on the arrests Wednesday,
except to say that Wymer, a general manager, and Kiefer, a shift manager, were
no longer employed at the business.
Cpl. Jennifer Bailey, spokeswoman at the sheriff’s office, said that an
investigation is ongoing as deputies believe there may be additional victims.
‘‘One of the victims indicated that this has been going on since Oct. 1,
2004," she said. ‘‘So we want to get all the information out [to the public] to
call us."
