Mr. Donald Walter Sweeney, 85, of
East Main Street, died Friday, Dec.
26 at St. Catherine's Nursing
Center, Emmitsburg.
He was the husband of Betty E.
Ridenour Sweeney, his wife of 61
years.
Born Sept. 24, 1918, he was a son
of the late William I. and Ellen May
Carbaugh Sweeney.
He retired from Hoke Furniture
Co., Thurmont.
He was a member of St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg.
Surviving, in addition to his
wife, are two sons, Donald Ross
Sweeney of Emmitsburg, and Ronald
Leroy Sweeney and wife Julie of
Emmitsburg; three daughters, Maxine
Shriner of Emmitsburg, Jackie L.
Sweeney of Gettysburg, Pa., and
Alicia M. Wood of Emmitsburg; nine
grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; one
great-great-granddaughter; one
brother, Albert Sweeney of Thurmont;
and two sisters, Liza Knott of
Thurmont, and Angel Toms of Keymar.
He was preceded in death by a
son, Albert W. Sweeney, and eight
brothers.
Friends may call from from noon
to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Skiles
Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St.,
Emmitsburg. The family will receive
friends form 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary
will be recited at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at
noon Wednesday, Dec. 31 with a Mass
of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg,
with the Rev. Stephen P. Trzecieski
as celebrant.
Interment will be in New St.
Joseph's cemetery, Emmitsburg.
