August 12, 1933 in Emmittsburg, MD,
he was the son of the late Charles
D. Hemler, Sr. and Ella M. Hemler.
Mr. Hemler was employed for 35 years
at the Maryland Army National Guard
in Havre de Grace. After his
retirement in 1988, Mr. Hemler went
back to work at the National Guard
as a civilian Security Guard where
he worked until his death.
Mr. Hemler was an active member of
the American Legion Post # 47 in
Havre de Grace and a past member of
the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1564 in Havre
de Grace and the Knights of Columbus
#2002 of Havre de Grace. He was
also a member of St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church in Havre de Grace
Mr. Hemler loved wood working and
made numerous projects over the
years for his family and friends.
Mr. Hemler was also an avid Bingo
player.
Mr. Hemler is survived by his wife
of 45 years, Ruthe Hemler, Brother
Joseph Sterling Hemler and his wife
Rosemary of Bonita Springs, Florida,
Son Mark Hemler and his wife Wanda
of Havre de Grace, Son Thomas Hemler
and his wife Micki of Phoenixville,
PA and daughter Susan Hemler of
Belcamp, MD as well as
granddaughters, Megan & Katelyn
Hemler of Havre de Grace and Kasey
and Bradi Hemler of Phoenixville,
PA, One Nephew Steven Hemler of
LaPlata, MD and One Niece Michelle
Hemler Peck of Binghamton, NY.
Funeral Services were held Monday,
November 30th at Mitchell
Smith Funeral Home in Havre de
Grace. Interment with full Military
Honors was held at Harford Memorial
Gardens.
Pallbearers were Russell Culley,
David Glenn, Pete Osborne, Jerry
Broyles, Steven Hemler and Mike
Todd.
Graveside Pallbearers were members
of the Maryland National Guard Honor
Guard.
