Mr. Robert
Henry Wantz, 77, of Old Emmitsburg Road,
Emmitsburg, Md., died Thursday September
7, 2006, at his home.
Born September 18, 1928, in Emmitsburg,
he was a son of the late John Russell and
Henrietta Bowers Wantz. He was the
husband of the late Irene Agnes Miller
"Dink" Wantz, his wife of 51 years, who
was killed in an accident April 9, 2002.
Mr. Wantz was a veteran of the Korean
Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was a retired plasterer and had
belonged to the Local Plasterers' Union #
891. He was a member of the American
Legion, AMVETS in Thurmont, Md. and
Indian Lookout Conservation Club. He was
a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman
Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. He was a
devoted husband and loved his children
and his dog, Bubba.
Surviving are nine children and their
spouses, Robert Lee and Theresa Wantz of
Emmitsburg, Elinor Lee and Rick Young of
Emmitsburg, Michael Lee Wantz of
Thurmont, Patricia Lee and Randy Wivell
of Emmitsburg, Mary Lee and Bill Mowery
of Orrtanna, Pa., Joan Lee and John Wantz
of Fairfield, Pa., Thomas Lee and Kelly
Wantz of Fairfield, Joy Lee and Larry
Krietz of Emmitsburg and Lisa Lee and
Martin Dayberry of York Springs, Pa.; 20
grandchildren, Bobby and Kayne Wantz of
Emmitsburg, Andrew and Kristin Young of
Emmitsburg; Michael and Nicholas Wantz of
Thurmont, Sarah and Justin Wivell of
Emmitsburg, Keith, Daniel and Lisa Mowery
of Orrtanna, Holly, Dianah and Angie
Wantz of Fairfield, Drew Wantz of
Fairfield, Taylor Krietz of Emmitsburg,
Becky, Tricia, Sam and Nate Dayberry of
York Springs; three great-grandchildren,
Hannah, Hailey and Robert Wantz III of
Emmitsburg; one sister, Virginia Welty;
and six brothers, Wilbur, Thomas,
Leonard, Jerry, Donnie and Frank Wantz.
He was predeceased by grandson, Josh
Wantz; granddaughter, Danielle Wantz;
brother,
Russ Wantz; and sister,
Dorothy Cool.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated 10 a.m. Monday September 11 at
St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church,
Emmitsburg, by his pastor, the Rev.
Stephen P. Trzecieski, C.M. Inurnment
will follow in Emmitsburg Memorial
Cemetery, Emmitsburg.
